Croup

Yes, that's right. Allie has croup again. Saturday she woke us up saying, "I'm sick." Before long though she was running and playing. I kept having her lay down and rest, and we gave her tylenol throughout the day. By night she was miserable. She and I were basically up all night. Nate took Kayla to church, and Allie and I just cuddled at home.

Sunday evening I decided to take her to the doctor (our pediatrician is open until 10pm everyday). It didn't take him long to know she had croup. Allie's got the barking cough and her breathing is really harsh and rattley. She was feeling the coolest she'd felt all day, and her temperature was 101.5. Our thermometer is on the fritz but we're guessing her temperature has been up around 103 easily.

The doctor gave us medicine which we've had to crush and put in pudding or applesauce. Last night it didn't take long before she was acting almost normal, but waiting til 5pm today for the next dose has been awful. Kayla has been trying to make her happy, but Allie just isn't up for anything.

She is so miserable these last two days, she can't even stand to sit by herself. I've been having to carry her and cuddle with her constantly. (Right now Nate is giving me a little break and trying to get her to eat her applesauce/medicine in the other room, he does the better airplane noises.) The only way we could get her to eat any breakfast was sitting on my lap. She just needs Mommy, and who am I to argue with that.

Oh, she looks miserable. I hope she starts feeling well soon.
