We are so grateful for all the help. It definately saved Nate and gives our girls a place to play for the summer. In fact, I think it may give some other friends in the neighborhood a place to play while they work on their yards too. Kayla keeps reminding me we said we'd get a swingset once we got grass. I know what I'm getting for mother's day...

Grass!!!!
Well, it is official, we have grass! I got out of the shower Friday morning to the sound of a tractor. It sounded awfully close. When I looked outside I found pallets of sod just waiting for some hardworking guys to lay it out.

Nate hurried home from work with barely enough time to quickly spread the starter fertilizer and come in for some quick tacos. My dad and Nate headed outside at 6:30 to get to work. Makayla and Allison were happy to go jump on the pieces of sod to make sure they were firmly in place.
As the hour passed more and more guys from the ward and friends showed up to help (after first going to another family in the ward with the last name Holtz-They however were not at all ready for sod). By 7:30 we had some where around 15 people helping. You can see how much they accomplished in such a short time.

By 8:30 the yard was done. Amazing! It went so smooth. Nate and my Dad were so grateful they could still move their muscles without too much pain. Of course, they still had Saturday to work...

Saturday Nate and Dad leveled the park strip which required borrowing a Backhoe from a neighbor to even break up the clay. Then they spread the last of the topsoil and laid sod. Unfortunately by night they were both moving like very old men. I guess they worked hard to earn a steak dinner at 10 pm. (Neither dared stop to eat. They knew they wouldn't finish if they sat down.)
