GF Halloween Party

Saturday we had errands to run in SLC so we decided to let the kids dress up and stop in at Eleanor's Bake Shop for a GF Halloween Party. It wasn't anything too big, but the girls love any excuse to dress up.

Our pretty witch. This was the coveted Halloween costume this year. Kayla wore it to her dance party and Allie got to wear it here. Unfortunately neither could wear it for Halloween because I banned it after they couldn't agree which one got to be the lucky one to be the witch. Oh well, at least they each got to wear it once.

They got to decorate bags with glitter, stickers, and construction paper.

Allie who was dressed as a witch but she wanted her face done like Optimus Prime. Dad and the artist talked her into being a pretty witch.

Trick or Treat

For trick or treating the girls had a hard time deciding which costumes to wear. Allie finally chose to be a princess bride.

The original plan was for Caitlyn and I to just go around the block with Nate and the girls, but the weather was so beautiful we stayed out pretty much the whole time. We also ended up with 3 other families-the Brady's, Garcia's, and Johnson's. It was a huge parade of princesses with two little boys.

Caitlyn cooed and enjoyed herself until she was all worn out.

After the girls trick or treated our neighborhood, they insisted on driving over to their dance lady's house. Miss Kathie promised special treats to all dancers. They left with a bag of candy bars and whistles. Then we came home, changed into pj's and went through all their candy.

Wizard of Oz Family

Friday night our Young Women's hosted our ward's first ever Halloween Party. It was a huge success. A trunk or treat was suggested, but thankfully they decided to decorate rooms and allow the kids to trick or treat to them instead. The kids first decorated bags to collect their candy. Then we walked through the fun theme rooms around the church. Afterwards, we got pictures, visited, ate cookies, and had a costume parade. It was just a fun, relaxing evening.

School Parties

So this year I was crazy and volunteered to help with both girls' Halloween Parties at school. My thought process was that this is the only year I can do both since Allie's is in the morning and Kayla's in the afternoon. But then this year was a short day on Friday and no school on Halloween. That meant there was only about 1/2 hour between party times. Kirsten volunteered to watch Caitlyn, which was a lifesaver, during the kindergarten party.
Allie's Party-Allie's party was fun and well organized. There were only 20 kids so 5 groups of 4. The kids made monsters, touched gross food, played BINGO, ate donuts and rootbeer, played memory, made witch hands, played pumpkin toss, and made goo. I think everybody had a good time.

Kayla's Party-Kayla's party was just plain crazy. There were 27 kids and 3 siblings doing each thing all at the same time. To start out, they painted luminaries-on the floor. Needless to say a lot of clothes were ruined.

They also got to play relay races and ball toss. They had dirt cups with worms that the kids loved for dessert. Kayla really loved being able to show off her baby sister. Allie loved getting a pair of vampire fangs that she had been wanting. Even though they hurt her mouth she loves to wear them. I think the kids had a blast, but as a mom, I hated seeing so many clothes being ruined.

Dance Kitty

For dance on Tuesday Allie got to dress up. She was wanting to go as a witch, but the costume is a bit long and flowy to dance in. Instead Allie was a very cute kitty. (Don't laugh at my wiggly whisker lines. You try drawing a straight line when the canvas won't quit talking.)

Four Months Old

It is hard to believe Caitlyn is already 4 months old. I really wish I could slow time down. Caitlyn is a happy baby! She has had a really hard time with her tummy, but we're hopeful she will outgrow that before long. It is hard to see her in pain.
This month has been a busy one. Caitlyn is giggling now more than ever. She loves playing patty cake. Last week she was laying on her play mat on the floor and within a short time she was 5 feet away. She scooted on her back across the floor-no more laying on the bed. Then Saturday, Caitlyn rolled from her tummy to her back. She did it over and over much to the delight of her big sisters and parents. She would love to roll from her back to her tummy as well. She gets pretty far, but thankfully, she hasn't learned that one yet.

Caitlyn wants to suck her thumb, but we are trying really hard to keep it out of her mouth. Hopefully our hard work will pay off and she won't get the bad habit. This month Caitlyn has started grasping her toys.

Her other new trick is her strong desire to sit. Caitlyn tries to sit up when we lay her on our laps. She's getting strong tummy muscles, and she can sit with only a little hold. It makes her so happy to be able to see what is going on around her.

Caitlyn is learning to like her crib more, and she is actually taking naps in it now. Her favorite place to nap is still her swing. I love that I can put her in the swing and she will sleep for a couple of hours. I love my baby, and I'm so glad to have her as part of our family!

Pumpkin Walk 2011

Friday October 14th, the Benson Grist Mill held their annual pumpkin walk. Kayla and Allie were on the lookout for Kayla's pumpkin as soon as we pulled up. Kayla spotted that tower of apples and took off at a dead run with Allie following behind.
They did good!

Caitlyn had a good time watching everything from the stroller, but try as I might she refused to smile when ever the camera came out.

I think the idea was to go between the bales of hay, but the kids had more fun jumping and running across the bales.

The girls had a great time each getting a treat and fishing at the fishing pond.
