Halloween Program

Today was Allie's school program. She was Glenda the good witch.
I took mostly video while one of my friends took still pictures. I did manage to snag a few snapshots though.

Most of the kids were shy and wouldn't sing or do the actions, but Allie did a great job. She sang every song and did all the actions.

Miss Anna Marie-who we just love-Marshall the dinosaur, Allie as Glenda, Thomas as Sully, Xavier the pirate, Nolan the skeleton, and Addie the horse.

It was a darling program. I'm so glad Allie loves going to preschool with all her friends.

Decorating Pumpkins

Last night-hey that means I'm almost caught up-we finally got around to decorating pumpkins. The girls ended up with 2 each since we went to the pumpkin patch in Pocatello. Nate and I didn't want to mess with cleaning all 6 pumpkins this year so we played it a little simpler.

I used felt for the face and pipe cleaner for hair.

Daddy helped Allie with her big pumpkin. They used the Mrs. Potato Head angel set.

Kayla drew on both of her pumpkins. Then she added a mini felt face on the the little pumpkin and some pipe cleaner on both.

Allie's Preschool Halloween Party

I'm beginning to think all we do is party around here. Wednesday Allie had her school party. She decided to be Minnie Mouse again. Since the mouse ears won't stay on her head, I decided to make ears using her hair. You might have to zoom in, but we were pretty happy with how they turned out.
Allie and Xavier-her friend and the teacher's son. I just have to say Xavier's mom made his entire costume, minus hat and sword. Very impressive.

Halloween Party at the Church

Allie and I were invited to a party Monday at 11:30am. It was a potluck luncheon for some moms and 3-4 year olds. Allie chose to go as Minnie Mouse.
We made a fruit salad, but also took a fruit skeleton.

After lunch the kids got to make a craft.

Some of the girls played a spontaneous game of ring-around-the-rosie.

All the kids played pin the nose on the pumpkin.

The kids then got a little goodie bag to take home.

Neighborhood Halloween Party

A couple friends and I planned a Halloween Party for Saturday October 23rd at 3 o'clock. We hoped for the good weather we've been having to continue, and figured even if it did cool down, at least it wouldn't be as cold as at night. It was a great idea in theory, but the rain chose to ruin our plans. At the last minute it got moved from its outside location to inside my house.

Our whole family dressed up from the Wizard of Oz all thanks to Kayla's $3 DI outfit. Kayla is Dorothy. Allie is Glenda the good witch. Nate is the scarecrow.
And I am the wicked witch. We were able to pull off all the costumes for less than $15. Yes!!!

Allie being cute. Sadly with the pouring rain and not everybody knowing the party moved inside and a couple of sick families, the turnout wasn't as good as we'd hoped for. Oh well, those that came had fun. Next year it would be really nice if the weather would cooperate.

Field Trip to the Dentist Office

Allie's preschool class got a tour of our local kid's dentist, which just happens to be my kids' dentist. They are so friendly and great with kids there, but still one poor little girl left in tears at just the thought of walking through the door. The rest of kids had a great time.
They got to see where the pictures of their teeth get taken, and they were able to feel all the different instruments.
They even got to make the brush spin by stepping on the pedal on the floor.

Allie pretending her teeth are getting their picture taken-I guess they really are. LOL Then they each got to try their hand at painting with floss.
After the tour was over, the kids got to spend a little while playing in the toy area.

Together We Can..

When Kayla heard the theme for Reflections this year, she immediately thought of what she could do. Together We Can Build A House. Saturday afternoon she took lots of pictures of all the boys working on Grandma and Grandpa Hulse's house. Then she picked her favorites and arranged them.

She also dictated this paper to me.

Together We Can Make A House

My Grandma and Grandpa Hulse decided to build onto the back of their house. First they dug a really big hole. Almost all the boys in the family were there to help. First it wasn’t very deep, but they used pick axes to break the ground. Then they made a ramp because the hole was really deep. After the hole was done they had to lay out the wood for the walls. Then when the walls were made they put cement in. They made a door from the room they were making to the basement. They were taking bricks off the outside kitchen wall. And then they made a ceiling for the room they were building and the floor for the kitchen they were building on. They were making walls for the new part of the kitchen, and a door for the way out of the kitchen to the backyard. They emptied the game closet and made it so it was a door for the new upstairs room they are building. Then they started to build up. They had lots of help building from family and friends. They made a new roof and some of the kids got to go on it. In a big rain storm, part of their house flooded, but they had lots of helpers to help put the rest of the roof on so it wouldn’t flood again. They have a lot and a lot of work to be done still, but nothing will get in their house because all the walls and windows are in. Together we all made it so Grandma and Grandpa’s house could be better.

Halloween Dinner

Friday evening we celebrated with our annual spooky dinner. Here is a overall look before all the food was added. This year the girls wanted to dress up, so we agreed.

I thought it would be a good idea to make some hot dog and little smokies mummies. So did Kathy And Ashley I made some of the always yummy cheeseballs- eyeball and mummy

Ashley thought cheeseballs sounded yummy and made some too-We must have been on the same wave length.

And for dessert Spider Cupcakes thanks to Kathy. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of all the rest of the food-jigglers in Halloween shapes, grapes, veggies, GF cupcakes, and more.

It was a fun party. I'm so glad we were able to come.

Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Over UEA we headed to Pocatello to visit family. It was nice to spend a three day weekend with family.
Friday morning Kathy called and asked if we'd like to go with her preschool class to the corn maze. Of course, we wanted to go. Kayla and Allie led the way through the mini hay maze.

Then we all went through the big corn maze. Grandma and the girls.

Two cats followed us through the maze. They were super friendly.

To find out way through the maze, Kayla read us questions. If we got it wrong, we found a dead end. If we got the question right, we soon found another question.

After the maze, we went to the Pumpkin Patch in search of the perfect pumpkin.
