Scraping the Days Away

The only good thing that has come from me sitting around all day is I've finally had time to get some digital scrapbooking done. I've been working on my 2008 album, and it is FINISHED! I just might take a LOT of pictures since I ended up about 140 pages. Oh well, you can't beat memories. Now I guess I'll have to start on 2009. Here are a few pages for your enjoyment. Look at the last two, they are particularly funny pictures.

Baby Girl Hulse

By now pretty much everybody should know that our new bundle of joy is a GIRL. She is due on July 4th, but will hopefully make her appearance 1 week before. She is growing well, and her sisters are busy planning how they will take care of their baby sister.

Yesterday I had another ultrasound. In the last 4 weeks, our baby girl has gone from 13 oz to 1 lb 12 oz. Thankfully she is growing good and looking right on schedule.

The bad news is that my body seems to be getting ready for delivery. I've been having a lot of contractions and cramping for 4-6 weeks. It has been obnoxious, but not real worrisome until yesterday. Yesterday morning as I was driving kids to school, I realized just how much pain I was in. Since I already had an appointment scheduled for the afternoon, I just did everything I knew of to relax my body. Instead of the long to do list that I had planned to tackle, I spent the day laying around until it was time to go.

When I got into my appointment, the nurse started fretting. I was a little worried, but not too much until I saw how worried the nurses were. My blood pressure was WAY lower than it has been (better not be a sign of POTS coming back), the baby has been really low, the contractions, cramping... I am just so grateful to be going to such a great high risk OB. I know I can trust him, and that makes me feel so much better. After checking me, it was determined for now my cervix is cooperating so I can be home. I'll have to take it easy and really pay attention to what my body is saying. Any increase of symptoms or new symptoms I am to call/go in. While I'm taking it easy for a few days, Kayla decided she will be the Mom. Allie decided she would play with friends... Nate decided he'd better get to work on painting and finishing the basement. Anyway, we're doing okay just taking it nice and slow for at least a week.

The Most Committed

Allie was described as the girl most committed to her fear of shots last Friday at the dentist office. She totally lost it about a month ago when we went in to get her cavity filled. So we had to go back and have her totally sedated so they could work on her mouth.
When Kayla has to have a shot she's had the same reaction since she was about 4 years old-tight lips and determined not to show her fear or pain. Allie however reacts to shots with as much emotion as she reacts to life. Screaming as loudly as she is able-which as we all know is pretty loud. Allie has this horrible fear of shots. It is out of control. I've learned not to prepare her. It is better that she is unaware until the needle comes out.
Well, the nurse anesthetist came into give Allie her shot in the waiting room, so Allie wasn't expecting it at all. She exercised her lungs as I grabbed her and hugged her tight while the nurse poked her arm. This particular shot put her out in a matter of a minute or two. It was actually kind of eerie as she was basically asleep with her eyes open lying lifeless in my arms.
As Allie was coming out of the sedation, she kept saying she didn't want a shot. Poor thing. The last thing she remembered was getting poked. I kept assuring her it was all done, and the doctor even pulled her loose tooth while she was under. The tooth got her attention for a second, but mostly she was just worried and wanted to go home. Allie was told as soon as she could hold her head up she could leave. It was all we could do to keep her from throwing herself off the table as she struggled to hold her head up so she could get out of that horrible place.
The nurse anesthetist said she's never had anybody wake up worrying about the shot. Normally, the kids are complaining about a sore mouth. The mouth was the least of Allie's worries.
I guess nobody will ever accuse that girl of not showing/sharing her emotions.

Putting up Tile in the Shower

Last Tuesday, March 1, we got a hold of a guy to do our tape, mudding, and texturing in the basement. We found out he could come on Saturday to give us a bid and start Monday if we wanted. Well, I was telling my parents, and Dad suggested we might want to get the shower tiled before he came. We were all for that if Dad was willing to come help. Nate managed to get Thursday off of work; so Wednesday afternoon they decided to come and left a couple of hours later.
After the decision was made, I went to Home Depot and played the pregnant card to get their employees to load my cart and then my car full of tile. It was a quick decision, but we are absolutely loving the results.

The finished product! Well almost finished. We have two corner shelves to add and grout and after we do the floor we can finish the last pieces at the bottom.
I've never made such a quick decision in my life. It is the first tile I've seen that really caught my eye. Then when we discovered the daisy pieces, I was sold for sure. After all, it is a girls' bathroom. The floor will be the darker color in 16 in squares.
Thank you Dad so much for coming to teach/help Nathan. We really appreciate it, and we are loving the results! Thank you!!!

Valentine's Day Torture

Otherwise known as pulling a tooth-her first tooth. Allie is awfully young to be loosing a tooth. She's been telling us since she was 3 that she had a loose tooth whenever her sister did. We kinda became bad parents and just started saying,"Okay. Just keep wiggling it." Without even looking in her mouth. Well, then we did look and she actually had a permanent tooth growing behind her baby teeth. We really started to encourage the wiggling, and on Valentine's Day while she and I were at a party, her tooth all but fell out.
My fingernails were quite long at the moment, and I just couldn't get a hold of the tiny little thing. She also only wanted Daddy to touch it. So after he finally got home from work, he decided to give it a try.
Happy girl. Ready to have that first tooth pulled.
Daddy reaches in to pull out the tooth. He barely touches it, and...
panic ensues.
I relinquished my role as photographer to Kayla, and pulled Allie onto my lap. We cuddled for a minute before attempting it again. Then I kind of held her down while Daddy reached in. Funny thing, he had the tooth out while she was still crying and waiting for the pain. We had to assure her it was over.
Look, no more tooth.
All that drama was worth it when the toothfairy came during the night. Now she's working on the tooth next to it. It is loose as well.

Two Cute Girls

While in Pocatello a few weeks ago, we had a fun time playing with the camera. Unfortunately I think my lens was a big dirty. Oh well, the girls are still pretty darn cute!

Helping Dad

February 4, 2011 The girls had a great time helping Daddy work on the basement. Allie helped hold the sheetrock while Kayla put in a few screws.
I did it! Kayla was loving getting to help build her very own bedroom.
"Daddy. You need to put a screw right there. And there. And there." Allie makes a good supervisor.

Woah!

Santa brought the girls some fake fingernails for Christmas. Way back on January 28, Allie decided she wanted to wear her new nails. They were a little on the HUGE side, but she loved them anyway-for a whole 20 minutes before she wanted to actually use her hands.
