Yesterday Nate and I worked on cleaning and organizing the basement. Between helpful kids and just being busy, things had kind of, no completely gotten out of hand. When we sat down for lunch, Nate was complaining I was wearing him out. He was ready for a nap not going back down for more work.
Kayla looked and me and said, "Mom, Daddy's are for working 'til their all worn out."
Oh yeah, "Yeah!" giggling at Daddy's look.
Well then, what are kids for, "Making messes, playing, and just having fun."
Too true!

Kindergarten Graduation
Deep breath. Let me compose myself. My little girl just graduated from kindergarten. I don't know who told her she could do all this growing up, but it certainly wasn't me.
This morning Nate made arrangements to go to work late so we could all attend Makayla's graduation. The kids sang a couple of very cute songs and the teachers made a slide show of all the kids for us to watch. Everybody got a copy of it to take home. It will be really great to have.
After waiting for what seemed like forever, Allie was so excited to see Kayla. She kept yelling out her name, bouncing up and down.
Finally Kayla found us. We were sitting in the front row off to one side, and she was looking too far back.

Way to go Makayla! We just wanted to let Kayla know how proud we are of her with a little gift.
We are so proud of Makayla for all she's accomplished. We love her so much and are very thankful to have her be a part of our family. She has done very well at school with academics and making lots of friends (unfortunately a few "boyfriends" too). She has grown and matured in so many ways this past year, mostly good. We are very impressed with her generosity, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel loved.

A Working Weekend
After the zoo we headed to Moose Haven. They were having a work party to try and get the ceiling finished and start putting up siding outside. I ended up feeling just too nauseous to want to be camping (the tick in my hair really just put me over the top) and left early with Travis, Nicholas, and Stefani. When I left the camera was put away and never seen again. Unfortunately even while I was there I managed to get mostly blurry pictures. I did get a nice one of the girls and one of Grandma and Grandpa Thomson. It sounds like they got quite a bit done, but it was kinda slow going with only two sets of scaffolding. Nate really enjoyed getting a chance to work on the cabin, and the girls loved sleeping there. I'm sure we'll be heading up for some more work/play trips this summer.
Hogle Zoo
All the kindergartners went on a field trip to Hogle Zoo Friday. There were 96 kids and 58 adults. There were a ton of field trips going on, and we kept seeing people we knew. Nate had the day off so we made a family day of it. Most the time we were with Kayla's good friend Elena, her mom, Kelly, brother and sister.
The giraffes were the first animals we got to see very well. The girls loved how TALL they are.

Everyone had to meet at 1pm to ride the bus back to school. We were just going straight from the zoo to the property and decided to stay and finish looking at the zoo before leaving. Once everybody was gone and the coast was clear we took the girls for a train ride. They loved it!

Although you can't see any animals in this picture, Allie was thrilled to see the bison.
After the train we decided to go play on the toys. On the way over we stopped to feed the swans and pelicans. They must have already been full though because they didn't care about the food.

Kayla loved the reptile exhibit. She stopped at every animal to look and learn. Nate went slowly with her, while Allie and I hurried through.
The crocodile was Allie's favorite and scariest animal. She has this strange fascination with them and is deathly afraid. (I don't know where she gets that from...)
We had a lot of fun. The weather was gorgeous. We'll definately have to go back sometimes on the first Thursday of the month during the next year (free with our Dinosaur Park pass).

Prep Work
We had a fun weekend of working. Nate helped his family at the property work on the cabin, and then he came to Pocatello and helped with the patio at Mom and Dad's. The work was already in progress.
Cory and Dad started digging out grass to start making space for the larger patio.
Even Tyler tried helping.
Kayla and Allie loved helping the whole time we were out there. They had so much fun digging. Kayla was a great gopher for everything we needed-water, phone, more water, camera, more water, etc.
I was finally feeling better after a crappy week, and I helped with what I could.
Everybody else came and went, but Dad was there ALL day long. He'll sure be paying tomorrow.
When Nate arrived he had fun with the sledge hammer breaking up concrete. It probably took less than 30 minutes to destroy.
We would fill the wheelbarrow (notice Dad's new toy) and Nate would haul it to the front yard. Dad tied a rope on and started pulling to help out. They "acted" like it was heavy.
That's a lot of mess that now has to be cleaned up. (We saved that part for you, Amy.)
I think they hit a "brick wall."
It was a productive day, albeit an extremely tiring day. Geee, next weekend we get to do it again.

Kayla's Running Away...
to Pocatello. Monday night Kayla would not come in for dinner. I called her over and over and warned her she would be grounded from playing Tuesday if she wouldn't come. Forty minutes later, and only after falling off her bike, she finally came inside. I informed her she was grounded, and she accepted it, knowing she deserved it.
Tuesday was a different story. She came home from school wanting to play with friends. When she was faced with the reality of her choice Monday-she was not a happy girl. After she stormed into her room, I went to wake Nathan up (from working nights). We came out and found her packing for a bike trip to Pocatello. She was furious we wouldn't let her go. Oh help. It's beginning...

Mother's Day 2009
My family gave me a wonderful Mother's Day. It started with a delicious breakfast in bed.
Wake up Mommy! They brought me an omelet, grapes, toast, orange juice, and a card. I suggested we all go to the table and eat, but they wouldn't let me leave bed. So instead they sat and watched me eat. When I finished they finally would go sit down and eat.
Kayla made me these cool things at school. I got a cute bookmark with her picture and a poem about housecleaning with a dust rag.
Nate gave me a book and a pair of earrings that I can wear everyday.
Aren't they cute? Just the right size to finally have a pair to wear all the time.
Everybody was looking so nice, and Daddy was finally home for a change. I wanted to get a family picture. We tried out the timer on Nate's new work camera. It took some messing but we finally got it.
Thanks everybody! It was so nice to get to spend the day together as a family. I love you all so much. Thanks for putting up with me, and for being such a wonderful support in everything I do.

Dinosaur Park
Saturday we bought year passes to Ogden's Dinosaur Park. We had so much fun exploring, digging, playing, and visiting with family. Now we can stop by anytime we want. Plus our tickets get us into a bunch of other fun places.
Wow! Look at that giant dinosaur.
I love this picture. She's looking at the animatronic dinosaurs on the upper floor of the museum.
The kids really liked the baby dinosaurs.

It was tons of fun. If you want to go, we'd be happy to go back. However we refuse to go in the hottest part of the summer. We made that mistake once before. The kids were sorely disappointed because everything was too hot to touch.
