Makayla and Allison love us to read to them. Every night before bed they both have to hear at least two stories. Right now Allie's favorite is this baby book. (I know there's Barney on the front) It shows Mommy and babies doing things like cuddling, reading, bath time, etc. She wants it all the time. Apparently we've read it so much Makayla has learned the whole story and can now read it to Allison herself. I've found them snuggled in the chair a couple of times just reading the baby book.

Daddy's Birthday!
For Nathan's birthday Makayla and I planned a minature surprise party. After a long day at work, and knowing he was going to have to work the next day, Saturday, too, Nate loved the party.
Nate just wanted to stay home, so I made his favorite-taco salad. For dessert the girls dished out lots of loves!!!

Then it was off to the basement in search of his gift. First Daddy found the cards. Makayla's was full of colors. She was so excited to show it to him, she tore it. Oh well, nothing tape can't fix.

Look at mine!!! Allie couldn't wait for Daddy to see her picture either.

Yuck! Mommy wrote a mushy letter.

Daddy's on the hunt! Is this my birthday present?

"Wow!!! Somebody spoiled me good!"
We filled the basket with a two pack of action movies, a church movie including Johnny Lingo and the Mailbox, crackers, easy cheese, jerky, twinkies, Riesens, Rolos, Reeses Crunch stick things, Mike and Ikes, Mountain Dew (there were more in the fridge), black and white milano cookies, peanuts, and who knows what else.

"Daddy, will you share?" Kayla wanted to know.

"Crackers!"

A little mouse known as Allison took a bite out of the crackers while Daddy was looking through his basket.

How handsome! I stacked two gift certificates and got Nate this jacket not only for free, but they sent me a check for $5.01 too.

Everybody Blow!!! The girls loved blowing so much we had to keep relighting the candles so they could help blow them out.

I tried a new recipe for gluten free brownies. Nate reluctantly tried them and said they tasted so good nobody would ever know the difference. Makayla LOVED them. (Today she took one to a friends birthday party so she could have a treat too.)

Allie was a little hesitant about the messy cookies and creme birthday cake, but after one bite she was in heaven.

Let's Spin!
In the process of moving in, I brought the computer chair into the main floor family room with the intention of moving it upstairs to our bedroom. The girls decided it was such a fun toy it needed to stay downstairs for a while.
First Makayla layed on her stomach on the chair, using her hands she spun herself around. Allie thought it looked like fun and jumped on for a ride. This is of course when Mom went for the camera.

Allie climbed down and started spinning Kayla around herself.

Then to be fair, Kayla spun Allie around.

At this point I guess Allie got cold and needed covered with a blanket.

It is so sweet when these girls play together. I am very grateful they get along so well. Makayla told me the other day she can't wait to be a Mom, it is her biggest wish. She wants to help me so she can learn. It is so cute! I guess poor Allie is going to get double mothered, but I guess that's how it often is for little sisters...

Back to Preschool!
I tried twice, but there was an error both times. Anyway, it had Kayla singing the alphabet, talking about school, and her new trick-counting backwards. I can't believe how big she's getting!!!

Making the Most out of Moving
Allison and Makayla found a great way to entertain themselves with the large stack of boxes in our front room. It's called box slide.

Allie threw herself on the pile first and found she could slide. Kayla joined in immediately. They had a blast until Daddy stopped it for fear of some giant papercuts. (They were getting quite fearless.)
