Nate's new project

The stairs leading into the house from the garage have never made any sense to us. There's a complete waste of space to the right of them, and why in the world did they use sheetrock and block off any access to storage?
Well, of course Nate was not going to put up with that. He spent Thursday night staying up way later than he should drawing out plans. Friday night he was unfortunately busy, but Saturday he was excited to get to work. He managed to get most of the wood from scraps at the construction site nearby (don't worry he asked). However he did have to buy a chop saw which we'll need for the basement anyway. Happy Father's Day Nate!!!
This is his yeah I get to play with power tools instead of moving wheelbarrow fulls of dirt around the yard.
Look at him go! (The sad thing is he'd just organized most of the garage and then immediately undid all his hard work to make it better.)
He's already taken the sheetrock off the existing stairs on the side, and he'll remove it from the front and reattach the railing. Nate just wanted to leave the railing up for as long as possible.
Now we're going to move the freezer onto this landing so it will be nice and handy plus out of the way of the rest of the garage. Nate's going to have to recruit a bunch of neighbors to get it moved up. First we've got to paint the bottom boards. We're also going to paint the stairs again-whatever the construction guys used is already coming off. He's got the railing ready to attach, but we went into SLC for a few hours Saturday and he ran out of time. Nate's plan is to make storage on the left of the freezer and above it too. Then underneath he'll put shelves and doors to keep everything nice and neat. I don't know what I'll do with a garage where things actually have a place-I've never had one of those before.
