Years ago Mom and Dad bought a ugly old piano with a whole lot of potential. Dad spent a lot of time fixing it up and restoring it completely. It turned out sooooo beautiful. Cory and I started lessons when I was in the first grade. We had lessons into high school. I wish I could say I play better than I do, but I'm afraid my skills have definitely diminished from years of no practice.
Well Mom and Dad decided to hold a lottery between us kids to see who would get to house the 124 year old upright grand piano. Amy stopped one Friday, and she drew a name. I WON!!! I never win anything so imagine my surprise and joy! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
We decided to just have Nate bring the piano home Saturday after the baptism and hurry back to go to the blessing Sunday morning. It made for a LONG drive for him and my Dad, but it was worth it! Bert, Josh, Matt, and Bill came to help load the piano in the back of Bert's truck. We borrowed a piano ramp and dolly which truly made the difference for loading and unloading.
That is one heavy piano!!!
They got it loaded, wrapped in moving blankets and tarps, and all tied down securely. It started drizzling not long after the tarp was put on. On Legacy to I-80 it was like the heavens opened and dumped a bucket of rain on them, but the piano stayed nice and dry.
A few nice neighbors helped unload the piano in a matter of minutes. After grabbing quick showers, Dad and Nate were headed back to Idaho. Thank you to all the helpers. We really appreciate your muscles.
The girls and I were so excited to see the piano Sunday night when we got home. I played a couple songs for them before family prayer. They didn't want the music to end, so I ended up playing for 1 1/2-2 hours as their bedtime music (although they went to sleep quite quickly relaxing and listening to the piano). We started lessons the next day with Makayla, and she's picking it up very quickly. She couldn't wait to play for Daddy that evening and for Grandma and Papa when they came last week. Allie also started lessons and is doing great on Mary Had a Little Lamb.
Thank you so much Mom and Dad. We are ecstatic to have this gorgeous piano in our home. I love having the girls beg to practice and for lessons. It has been so much fun for all of us to play, and I love having music in the home. Thanks again! (Oh and sorry Amy and Cory)
