Hanging Christmas Lights

After hearing the weather was supposed to turn cold and snowy right away, Nate and I decided to get a start on hanging some Christmas lights. Since he doesn't get home until it is almost dark, we ended up working mostly in the dark. Here he is working on the high part while I was hooking the gutter hooks on the bulbs from the safety of the ground. Kayla kept my pockets filled with hooks. She took her job very seriously.
Allie had fun running all over the place-while we tried to keep her from stepping on the bulbs laying on the ground.
Then Allie discovered how beautiful this rock glittered in the moonlight (I know its boring in this picture). She kept telling us all about it and touching the sparkles.
You may wonder why I took this picture. I'll tell you why. It's because my silly husband spent 5 minutes balancing on the ladder talking on his work phone. When I asked what was so important, he said, "It was some stupid thing that didn't need to be talked about." Gotta love that phone...

The kids are really anxious to turn the lights on, but we told them they have to wait until Thanksgiving. They're trying, but it is hard.

Funny how nothing can take five minutes. ;)
