Halloween 2009

We started off our Halloween day by heading into West Valley and going to Michael's for the kids to make some free Halloween crafts. Then we stopped by Kohls because I realized I hadn't returned a costume I bought for Allie before we settled on Snow White. It really needed returned before we couldn't get our money back. Then we decided to enjoy lunch out as a family. We stopped by Chili's. Nate and I ordered the soup and salad lunch which comes with chips and salsa. Allie was so excited to find this stack of chips.
They weren't greasy. They were just stuck together, and she wanted a bite.
Not the neatest way to eat chips, but she enjoyed her BIG bite. After that she peeled the chips apart a layer at a time to eat.
Kayla was sad we didn't splurge on Queso, but she nibbled at the chips until her chicken came.
After lunch we returned home to try and accomplish a few things before getting our costumes on. Nate hung our bicycles in the garage. I'll have to get a picture and show the cool thing he found for that. The little girl across the street told Kayla and Allie they were going to the drive-in for trunk or treating. The girls talked us into going with the understanding that since we'd be giving away all our candy there we'd have to use what they collected trunk or treating for giving to the neighbors when we got home. They didn't really care about the candy, but just wanted to go have fun. So we hurried and changed.
Kayla took a picture of Nate and I in our pirate costumes. It was fun to dress up for a change.
I am so glad our girls love each other.
Minnie Mouse and Snow White. We got sooooooo many compliments on their costumes. The glitter on the bottom of Allie's dress was absolutely gorgeous in the moonlight. Unfortunately they did have to wear coats for trick or treating, but such is living in Utah.
Trunk or treating to Daddy. I walked around with them here, and Nate took them in the evening in our neighborhood.
Even after giving away a bunch of their candy to our trick or treaters the girls made a haul. Neither one wanted to stop. They met up with some friends and went further than they ever had (which still was only 2 blocks).
One thing Nate adn I definitely noticed was the difference in candy from when we were kids. We used to bring home lots of little tootsie rolls, suckers, smarties, and other little candy with a few small candy bars. Now it is mostly the candy bars with only a few of the other things.
We let each girl have one thing on the ride between the drive in and our house. Allie chose Goldfish. Then when they got home in the evening Allie's 1st choice-Ritz Peanut Butter crackers. Kayla surprised us too by picking things like smarties and sweet tarts instead of chocolate. Kayla also asked if I would put most of their candy away and only let them have a little at a time so they didn't get sick.
Love it!!!!
We hope everybody had a very Happy Halloween!

I think that's because we always wanted the big candy, so now that we are buying, we buy the good stuff. There's also the fact that you live in a blasted nice neighborhood.

I had the same thought about teh chocolate too, which kind of stunk for Deacon since he can't eat it and ELiza (and Mommy!) get to eat all his chocolate. Kayla dressed up as Minnie Mouse reminds me of you when you were a kid. Did you ever dress up as Minnie Mouse?? Do they have a problem eating candy with Celiac??
