San Diego

Can I just take a moment to say---San Diego is insane! Okay maybe not San Diego itself, but their roads. Dad had his GPS out and going, but even with that we made numerous wrong turns. It was rush hour traffic when we pulled into town, and trying to make lane changes was almost impossible. Thankfully, we made it to our hotel-eventually. The kids were dying to go swimming, and Daddy was nice enough to take them in the not so heated pool.

A few years ago I searched all over to find a one piece swim suit (in May) for Kayla. There were none-anywhere. I finally bought a tankini. On our way to McCall, we stopped at a Kohls in Meridian and found her one. Well, I had the tankini stuck in the bottom on my swimming bag. I ended up staying at the cabin with a grumpy baby Allie when the rest went swimming. Many months later, I found the suit and decided since I couldn't return it, and Kayla had a new one, we might as well keep it new for Allie. Allie got the tankini for Christmas, and this was her first time wearing it. She was not so sure of the whole process.

"I have to take my panties off." Giggle Giggle. "That's silly." Giggle Giggle. "My belly shows. It's too small. Why does it have it's own panties? Why can't I wear my other panties?" Giggle Giggle. Since she never quits talking, this continued for quite a while. Then she started strutting her stuff. I had to get a picture.
Kayla was a little more subdued model. She loves her suit, but now she wants one like Allie's.
Ariel-I mean-Allie in the pool trying to keep from freezing.
Daddy and Kayla seeing how far Kayla could walk.
The girls absolutely LOVE swimming. They cannot get enough of it. By the end of the first evening, Kayla was even jumping into the pool and diving under the water. For a girl who throws a fit every time water splashes on her face in the bath, this was a huge thing. Allie of course, delights in holding her breath under the water for as long as possible. She will jump into the pool regardless of who is watching. We have to really be careful with her since she has no fear at all in the pool. I think we're going to have to take them into the Tooele pool a little more often.
One of the great things about swimming is how tired it makes you. Both girls slept very soundly after splashing around. I just love their positions in this picture. It's like it's the first thing they do similar.
